  1. I think that the article makes a very good point about letting kids fail and learning from their mistakes. If we only succeeded all the time or were told by people that what were doing now is good, then we'll never strive to be the best we can be because we've already "proven" to people that the way we are now is fine. Constantly being awarded with participation awards doesn't push us harder to do better than the guy sitting next because you both got the same award. Someone beating you for that MVP award or first chair motivates you to try harder in and be the best that you can be.
